The dress is 100% GOTS certified organic cotton muslin — a natural fibre base with no synthetic blend in this style — with the cotton grown and the garment manufactured in India, and the certifying body named as IDFL Laboratory and Institute under GOTS licence IDFL 010673. Independent write-ups describe the same 100% GOTS organic cotton and Indian manufacture.

The dress uses snaps only in the baby sizes for diaper changes, and its decoration is stitched embroidery and ruffle detailing rather than attached appliqués; no neck cords or ties are described. Neither snap-retention nor small-parts testing after use-and-abuse is published for this garment, and there is no statement about seam construction or reinforced fastenings.

The dyes are declared azo-free and water-based on a 100% organic cotton base — not a vivid print on a synthetic layer — and GOTS processing requires colouring with non-toxic dyes and bars banned azo compounds. We queried the full CPSC recall corpus — 9,944 records spanning June 1973 to August 2026 — and Makemake Organics appears nowhere in it, in any role, at any date. Controls run in the same corpus return hundreds of children's-product recalls (crib, stroller, toy, pacifier), so the clean result reflects the brand's absence rather than a query that missed.

Makemake Organics is a GOTS-licensed brand under licence number IDFL 010673, certified by IDFL Laboratory and Institute, and this dress is 100% GOTS certified organic cotton muslin sewn in a GOTS certified factory in India; OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 and Fair Trade are named as well. Two independent write-ups describe the same GOTS licensing and OEKO-TEX holding, though neither went and pulled the certificates themselves.

The dress is declared free of PFAS, formaldehyde, phthalates, AZO dyes and flame retardants, and nothing in its marketing or care guidance offers easy-care, wrinkle-free, non-iron, stain-resistant or water-repellent performance — the care guide asks for a gentle wash, no bleach and a cool iron. GOTS processing bars bleach and formaldehyde, and an independent write-up repeats the PFAS-free and flame-retardant-free position.

Care guidance for this dress is detailed — machine wash on gentle, do not bleach, iron on cool, tumble dry low and remove promptly, with mild plant-based detergent and wool dryer balls suggested in place of softener. There is no instruction anywhere to wash the dress before first wear, which is the one gap in an otherwise complete care write-up.

Fibre content (100% GOTS organic cotton muslin), design in Florida and manufacture in India are all published. The manufacturing partner and the factory's location within India are not named.

Baby sizes use nickel-free snaps for diaper changes, the decoration is fine embroidery and ruffle detailing rather than a thick raised screen print, and the dyes are declared azo-free and water-based. Heavy-metal or lead migration results for the snaps are not published, and no children's-product test certificate is shown for the hardware.
