Training Pants Monthly Box

STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX applies to the finished product — the training pants are certified to the highest OEKO-TEX consumer safety standards — so we take the certificate as existing. The product class is never specified, so Product Class I for infants and toddlers is not the claim actually made, and no certificate number is published. The separate OEKO-TEX STeP certification covers the bamboo viscose supplier's production conditions rather than the finished pant.

The absorbent core uses Elemental Chlorine Free wood pulp, named as ECF rather than left as a vague 'chlorine-free', and independent diaper guides consistently list DYPER as ECF and not TCF. ECF processing greatly reduces dioxin formation but does not eliminate it the way oxygen, peroxide or ozone bleaching does, and the pulp mill is not named.

Added fragrance, lotion and dyes are each excluded by name, alongside latex, rubber, alcohol, parabens, phthalates, pesticides, chlorine bleaching, VOCs and optical brighteners — this is a fragrance-free statement, not an 'unscented' one. The pants are plain white with no decorative print on the layer against skin apart from the front giraffe marker, and independent parenting guides list the line as free of fragrance, dyes and lotions.

An EPA-certified laboratory panel tested DYPER's bamboo diapers for organic fluorine — the marker used to flag PFAS — and returned non-detect on both the inside and the outside of two separate samples, and accredited third-party testing by Bureau Veritas has also returned non-detect for the brand, with both results reported publicly. The samples put through those labs were the taped bamboo diapers rather than these training pants, and DYPER does not publish a result table of its own.

We queried the complete CPSC recall corpus — 9,944 records spanning June 1973 to August 2026 — searching titles, descriptions and manufacturer, retailer and importer names, and DYPER appears nowhere in it, in any role, at any date. The same corpus carries 32 diaper recalls and 86 pacifier recalls, so this product class is covered and the clean result reflects the brand's absence rather than a query that missed.

For these pants the absorbent core is disclosed only as sodium polyacrylate, with no origin country, no supplier and no residual acrylic acid or acrylamide figures. The Japanese supplier Sumitomo is named as the super-absorbent polymer source in the published layer-by-layer composition of the taped bamboo diaper line, which is a sibling product rather than the training pant being scored.

These pants and the wider line carry named certifications: STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX, a Dermatest 5-star clinical rating, USDA Certified BioPreferred at 45% biobased content, FSC-certified chlorine-free pulp, and B Corp status. Independent parenting guides repeat the STANDARD 100 and Dermatest 5-star claims, and we queried the CPSC recall register and found nothing filed against the brand. No licence or certificate numbers are published for any of the certifications.

The training pant's build is published component by component: Elemental Chlorine Free wood pulp, sodium polyacrylate, bamboo viscose backsheet and topsheet nonwoven, a certified compostable plant-derived outerfilm, a polypropylene acquisition layer, a polyolefin/polypropylene full-coverage waistband, adhesives, elastics and a wetness indicator. Percentages by weight and the chemistry of the wetness indicator are not published for this item, although the taped diaper line does carry a layer-by-layer breakdown with percentages.

Skin compatibility rests on a Dermatest clinical application study run under dermatological control for four weeks with 20 subjects, which found no irritation and no allergic contact reactions and earned a 5-star rating. That study is set out for the diapers, and the training pant is covered by the same line-wide statement rather than by a study naming it. Across the 134 buyer reviews we read there is no pattern of rash or irritation complaints; several parents specifically report none.

The pants carry a component list — ECF wood pulp, sodium polyacrylate, bamboo viscose top and backsheet, compostable outerfilm, polypropylene acquisition layer, polyolefin/polypropylene waistband, adhesives, elastics and a wetness indicator — while manufacturing is disclosed only as taking place in China, Mexico and the US, with no named factory or material supplier.

The ultra-absorbent core is built on FSC-certified, chlorine-free pulp from sustainably managed forests, and the wood pulp supply chain is independently audited. Neither the sourcing region, the pulp supplier, nor an FSC licence code is published, so the certification cannot be traced to a specific chain of custody.
